Admission Process BSN to MSN

Admission materials are sent to both the College of Nursing and Graduate Admissions and are due:

  • February 1 for Fall admission for BSN applicants
  • February 1 for Spring admission for Nurse Anesthesia program applicants

Incomplete applications are not reviewed. Late files are only reviewed on a space available basis.

Admission to the University Graduate School and to the College of Nursing are two separate processes. Both must be completed. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure that admission materials are complete at both the College of Nursing (865-974-0591) and at Graduate Admissions. Graduate Admissions information can be obtained by calling 865-974-3251 or online

Form. Do not use the Graduate School Rating
          forms.

Professional references are from people familiar with your academic performance (e.g., college professors) or work performance (supervisors preferred & supervisor reference required for nurse anesthesia). References from friends and family are not considered professional references and, if used, can result in an application being considered incomplete.

Raters put the completed reference  in a sealed envelope with their signature over the seal and return it to the applicant to be sent in with the applicant’s  packet.

The exception to this is nurse anesthesia applicants: Nurse anesthesia students have raters mail the references directly to the Nurse Anesthesia Concentration Program Office.

If you are reapplying and would like previously submitted materials used with the current application please contact the College to determine the availability of these materials and request having them added to the materials being submitted. If you are reapplying you will also need to reactivate your file with Graduate Admissions.
